Pattaya Immigration arrest Russian Fugitive wanted for drug offenses in Russia
On Thursday afternoon Police General Wutti, Senior Adviser to the National Police Commissioner, led a press conference at the Chonburi Immigration Office in Jomtien, and announced the arrest of a 32 year old Russian who is wanted on serious drug offenses in his native country.
Interpol contacted Chonburi Immigration and informed them of intelligence which suggested Mr. Artyem Uvarov, was hiding somewhere in Pattaya. He is wanted in connection with serious drug offenses which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in Prison, should he been found guilty in Court.
The suspect was arrested earlier on Thursday at the Kiss Restaurant in Soi Siam Country Club in East Pattaya and taken to the Immigration office by Police Colonel Chaiyor and his team of Immigration officers.
Mr. Uvarov was found to be residing in Thailand illegally as his visa expired on 5th May 2012. He will now be handed over to the Russian authorities who will take him back to Russia so he can be tried in front of a Judge for the drug offenses he is alleged to have committed.
