Russian Arrested After Loaning Money At High Interest Rates
PATTAYA – June 2, 2013 [PDN]; At around 01.00 AM, Police officers of the DSI and Pattaya City police station arrested Mr. Ayrat Khabiryanov, a Russian national. When police arrested him, police were able to seize 7 passports of 7 individuals, police also seized 2 bank account books. He was arrested after it was discovered that the Russian man loaned out money at interest rates that exceed the Thai law’s interest rate regulation.
Police were able to find out that Mr. Ayrat Khabiryanov was on his way to Central Festival Pattaya Beach, which made the police planned an arrest for the Russian. Police tried to arrest Mr. Ayrat Khabiryanov in front of the Starbucks cafe, but he ran away from the police. He fled to his Toyota car, but police were able to catch him.
As soon as the Russian was arrested by his car, his car was searched by the police. Police found his passport, documents of 10 individuals who are believed to have lent the Russian’s money. Two of his bank account books were seized as well. A poster was found stuck on his cat that he was loaning out money to any who is interested. Police additionally seized two laptops, credit cards and other documents related to loaning out money.
Police officers revealed that Mr. Ayrat Khabiryanov, the suspect had posters advertising that he was loaning out money. Police then requested the Pattaya court for an arrest warrant, which was granted. The Russian will now be prosecuted by the police.
